Habitat Egypt’s work is based on partnership. One result of those partnerships is the ability to share ideas with people from all aspects of the process, with input coming from homeowners, local committees, community organizations, Habitat Egypt, and Habitat for Humanity International.
Habitat Egypt’s bottom-up approach, focusing on local needs, has inspired new intiatives. Through working and discussing ideas with local partners, several new initiatives have emerged as solutions to new problems or improvements to the existing program.
One of our ongoing initiatives is the Global Village program, enabling volunteers to partner with us in Egypt, largely the same way that volunteers partner with Habitat for Humanity International programs elsewhere. Two of the more recent initiatives are the Poorest of the Poor Initiative and the vaulted/dome roof design.
